Fake Christians

Fake Christians!

Hello World! It’s been a long time since I last posted a blog. I have been encouraged during this season of life with how God is moving. So in honor of what God is doing, I am making this short blog.

What is a fake Christian? What does that mean? I was a fake Christian, I called myself a Christian because I was raised to go to church, I believe in God, and…well that’s it! I didn’t really like to go to church as a child, but it made my parents happy, and it made me feel like God was happy with me. But is that all it takes to be a Christian? Go to church and believe in God? If that is what you believe, then maybe you are a fake Christian too.

Acts 11:26 “…The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.” The term Christian is used only 3-4 times in most English bible translations. But as we see here a “disciple” is a “Christian.” I thought a disciple of Jesus was more of a follower of Jesus, or a student of Jesus. And I thought a Christian was someone that believed in Jesus, they didn’t follow him, they weren’t a student. But the truth is that disciples are Chrisitians!

Now that we know what a real Christian is, according to scripture. What does it mean to be a Christian?

Luke 9:23 “Then he (Jesus) said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me”

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me (Jesus), ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my father who is in heaven.”

Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”

When we read these scriptures (and follow them) then we can see what it truly means to follow Jesus.

I say this with all the love God has given me, if you believe you are not truly following Jesus, reach out to me. Let me help you!

With Love,

Ayodeji Alaketu
