BBC Two – The Life of Muhammad

Hello World!

So I just finished watching the BBC documentary on the Life of Muhammad.

Maybe the film was biased, but from everything that I learned, Muhammad was not a bad guy. In fact, there are some bullet points I want to highlight in the Prophet’s life.

• Muhammad did an amazing job creating an Islamic Civilization. He talked about how the main goal is to worship the one true God. Yet, I feel that people at the time looked at him more than God.

This is huge for me. I feel that people at the time hated the world they lived in. But, Muhammad had a better idea for how we should live due to his divine revelations from God. (I’m not sure I can believe 100% of the revelations are truly divine, but continuing…) People liked his ideas of peace and justice and so they followed him. But, it wasn’t peace and justice that made Muhammad so amazing, it was God. God helped him win battles, helped him establish a nation, helped him teach. He is called the Prophet, because he simply relays messages from God to the people. However, he was also a leader…which in my opinion, makes things a lot harder.

• Muhammad did his final sermon, where he challenged the Muslims at the time and the future Muslims to remember that all people are created equal. No one is above one another, and all will answer to Allah.

Now there’s a lot of things I cannot agree with in Islam, but I agree with this 100%. But as we see now, there are Islamic terrorist killing other Muslims. They are literally going against what Muhammad was preaching. Muhammad also led a life that allows one to have a good idea on what to do (and what not to do) in situations, yet the Islamic extremist of today are going crazy.

FOR EXAMPLE: Muhammad’s greatest victory was the Peaceful Jihad of Mecca, his birthplace. (Quick Tangeant! One thing I thought was interesting was how Muhammad wasn’t recognized as a Prophet in his birthplace. Luke 4:24, Mark 6:4) He came there to pray at the Kaba, but had to sign an embarrassing treaty. He signed it, but when the leaders of Mecca, the Quraysh, went against the treaty. Muhammad and his army stormed Mecca, took it over, but did not massacre anyone. Instead he said that he forgave his enemies, and said that people didn’t have to convert unless they wanted to.

This is nothing new under the Sun. According to the documentary, Muhammad took over Mecca peacefully, but the Islamic terrorist today are killing innocents to accomplish their mission. I think this goes completely against the teachings of Muhammad.

I do not wanna type much so I will summarize what I think all in all.

I do not have enough information about the Prophet that I need to make a satisfying judgement for myself. But, I do know the Bible. In the Bible, there was no prophet that served as both Leader of civilization and as a prophet. There were those who were kings, and had prophets that would educate them. There were Kings who received divine revelations from God, but couldn’t understand them, and needed a prophet to help. But in Muhammad’s case, I think that is unique. To be a Prophet and a Leader.

Also, I never really got a clear statement on how Muhammad created the Quran, if he wrote it himself, or had a helper, I don’t know his relationship with previous prophets, other than the divine revelation. There’s a lot of white spots. But most importantly, is Jesus.

THIS IS STRICTLY OFF THE TOP. SO I MAY BE WRONG, BUT THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE AT THE MOMENT.

Muhammad makes Jesus seem inadequate. I don’t know how you can deny Jesus for who he says he is, especially seeing what he has done in his life, and the end result. Also seeing how previous scriptures talk about him. This is not just a problem with Muhammad but a problem in general with the people of that time and the people of our time.

I said it once, and I’ll say it again. I don’t care whether you say your Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Black, White, anything… In the end what does Jesus mean to you? He came, did miracles, taught, was recorded by other people. Died. Came back 3 days after, like he said he would. And now sits at the right hand of God.

Do you just excuse that? What I wanted to know is how Muhammad learned of the old Prophets, and how he came to the conclusion of Jesus not being the Son of God, not being of God, and not being who he said he is.

AGAIN THIS IS STRICTLY ME SPEAKING, I MAY BE WRONG, BUT I TRULY BELIEVE THIS TO BE TRUE.

In the end, all religions cannot be right. So the decision is black or white.

1. Jesus is lying about who he is.
2. Muhammad is not a true prophet of God.
