Hello World!

Matthew 6:33 NIV
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

This verse has been a memory scripture that I first learned several years ago when I studies the Bible for the 1st time. It was easy to remember this one because 3+3=6 so Matt 6:33. That being said, I really need to work on my memory scriptures, because I don’t know that many.

However, since it was a scripture I can associate with my entire life, I used it multiple times. Whenever I am in times of stress, or I feel lost, or I want to sin, or someone asks me a question, I just think about this one. It’s like an easy fix. All I have to do is seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, and everything will be okay. If only it was that easy.

The whole chapter of Matthew 6 is amazing. Jesus is teaching us how to give, how to pray, how to fast, understanding where our treasures are, and ending it with Do Not Worry. He gives a beautiful example of God’s work in the lives of animals, and in the lives of plants. Which reminds us of how much God would give in our lives, as beings created in his image. As long as we seek his kingdom and his righteousness. (So if you have not read the chapter go read it….and might as well finish the book.)

But is it easy? Maybe for some people, but for me it’s a battle. Although it’s a memory scripture, there are times I don’t want to seek God, because I want the answer right now. Maybe I know God’s way but it’s to scary. I don’t think it would work. I think it is embarrassing, or even worse, I convince myself that the way God wants me to do it, is not the way God wants me to do it. I would seek scripture to prove my point, but that never works. In the end, I end up twisting scripture and diverting myself so far away from the problem, that I give up and still end up not doing it God’s way.

That last paragraph was confusing, but what I am trying to say is that there are times when it is hard to trust God.

Is this really what he wants me to do?
Isn’t it a lot of work?
What would other people think?

I usually end up worrying about what the world would do than what God is going to do.

So now I am taking a firm stand this week on this scripture. I challenge you, those who never read the Bible, or those who are professing scripture, when times get tough Trust God and SEEK HIM.
