Good Day World!
Today I decided to talk about something that has been on my mind since I began this walk with Christ.
But here is a question:
Do you have a bible in your home?
If so, how often do you read it?
Does anyone in your home read it?
Is it only used one day of the week?
By my questions, you can tell where I’m headed. I am speaking by my own experience, but growing up, my family and I went to church every Sunday, but I never once saw the Bible being used at home. I always wondered whether or not anyone really read it. It is a big book, and it is a holy book, but I felt that growing up in both Catholicism and Christianity, it was rarely used. When I think of Judaism, I know they had to read from the Torah during a Bar/Bat Mitzvah in Hebrew. And I also understood that the Quran was written primarily in Arabic, so one may had to learn Arabic in order to read it.
But our Christian Bible is in English, and is readily available in numerous different English translations…yet growing up I never once seen anyone pick it up and read it…but then I decided to do so.
I knew it was a “holy book” and it contained the stories of God, and it is said to be “God’s own words,” so why not read it?
If you have a bible, have you ever picked it up to read it? If you haven’t, why not start?
5 minutes a day.
That’s all I have for now. Thanks for reading.
With love,
Ayodeji Alaketu
