Good Day World!
As a recommendation from a sister of mine, I will begin a new series. This will be interesting ; I’m hoping for 7 chapters.
Today we will be talking about the Prophet Hananiah from Jeremiah 28. As always I recommend reading it for yourself but first let me give you some background.
The Prophet Jeremiah, author of the book of Jeremiah and Lamentations, was a prophet during multiple reigns of kings years after King Solomon passes away. In the chapter before today’s chapter, he preaches about the coming of King Nebuchadnezzar (we will call him King Nebby for short), who will take over Jerusalem and Israel and take all the treasures from the Lord’s house (Solomon Temple) back to Babylon. He basically preaches to everyone that they must surrender to King Nebby or die fighting against him. And as a prophet of the Lord, that means GOD is telling HIS people to SURRENDER or DIE.
Jeremiah 27:8-10
If, however, any nation or kingdom will not serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon or bow its neck under his yoke, I will punish that nation with the sword, famine and plague, declares the Lord, until I destroy it by his hand. So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your interpreters of dreams, your mediums or your sorcerers who tell you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon.’ They prophesy lies to you that will only serve to remove you far from your lands; I will banish you and you will perish.
Then a courageous prophet preaches against what prophet Jeremiah and this is where we the story storts. Please read the whole Jeremiah 27-28 by yourself and check out Part 2 of Prophet Hananiah.
With love,
